About our UndocuNetwork EventThis is a celebratory event for our community. We are celebrating our existence, because we are worth celebrating US. We are gathering together on August 20. 2022 from 3-7pm at the Garcia Center for the Arts in San Bernardino, California.
How did this event come about?Initially, I wanted to get together with people that were interested in connecting and existing amongst each other at a coffee shop; in my mind, only about 10-15 would be interested and I would "lure" them with a free headshot; surprisingly, many people were excited about the concept and requested legal, entrepreneurship and mental health-related information, as well as other goodies like food and music, so Maria from UndocuChisme and I decided to expand this initial idea and reach out to our community members to make this possible!
Who is this event for?Everyone is welcome: undocumented, formerly undocumented, DACAmented, TPS holders and other visa holders, mix-status families, and allies.

Where are the funds coming from?
Initially, it came from me (Mayra Barragan-O'Brien) and UndocuChisme (Maria Barragan). However, we have some AMAZING sponsors that are helping as well: Garcia Center for the Arts, Thrive with Kiki, Adelitas Apparel, Mayra Jimenez LMFT, Narcizo Consulting LLC, Informed Immigrant, Insight Counseling, Alebrije's Bakery and 2 community members that would like to stay anonymous. THANK YOU ALL!
What do you, UndocuMental Health, gain from this?
Money-wise? Nothing; we are not charging the vendors nor the attendees. We are doing this because we want to celebrate life with you. We don't get to enjoy these moments often, so why not create a way to celebrate?
What will be offered at this event?
We will be offering free tacos de canasta, non-alcoholic beverages, and conchas (from Alebrije's Bakery) for the first 100 people, an UndocuNetwork tote bag for the first 50 people, a headshot for all interested, pictures of the event, and music!
There will also be 3 free workshops available from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please see below to find out more about the workshops and amazing speakers!
AND let's not forget our 12 creative, resourceful, and wonderful vendors!

Sharet Garcia, Founder of UndocuProfessionals - Entrepreneurship Workshop 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

UndocuProfessionals was formed out of the needs for answers to transition from an undocumented student to an undocumented professional...
As an undocumented student myself I had many questions in regards to my pursuit to higher-education in the different levels and then moving into a professional higher-level career. I paved my own path for both throughout college and transitioning into a professional career.
I started UndocuProfessionals because I knew from experience that many faculty, staff, administrators or student advisors didn't have the information or expertise to advise me on my career path. My hope is to increase awareness and support for undocumented students in all levels of education that are transitioning to undocumented professional, and I want the ongoing support and encouragement of a community of individuals with similar aspirations and challenges. I have witnessed first-hand the need for resources available for undocumented students in my fields in Higher Education and profession.

Mario Perez was born in Mexico City, he arrived in the United States when he was five years of age. As a person directly impacted by the current state of the U.S. immigration system and incarceration, Mario is passionate about shining a different light on the issues that face the immigrant community. After his release from detention, he joined UCLA's Dream Resource Center as the Immigrant Justice Fellow with the Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ICIJ). Through his work in the Inland Empire region, Mario provided humanitarian support to community members and families affected by detention and deportation. Most recently he has joined the Alejandra Pablos’ Support Don't Deport Campaign. A collective of activists and storytellers that advocate for the liberation of folks in deportation proceedings. This collective aims to change the narrative and policies that cast a double punishment on the undocumented community.
#LiberateMario is a deportation defense campaign. All fundraising efforts and proceeds will support and advocate for Mario’s restorative efforts from sentencing, including legal fees and campaign building. The ultimate goal is to obtain a pardon as well as liberation from the shackles and restraints forced on individuals in deportation proceedings. With Mario’s liberation and the support from Support Don't Deport Collective these activists and storytellers will continue to advocate and fight for the liberation of all.
